MyElks App News

Please see the following message regarding the MyElks Mobile App:

Dear Members, We regret to share that due to a combination of technical issues and recent events, the My Elks Mobile App will be discontinued. Despite dedicated efforts by PGER Roger True and the Discover Elks Team over the past three years, it has become clear that the app could not be sustained at this time with the current developer and recent issues that arose.

Please note: This decision does not affect the digital membership card initiative, which remains on track and is unrelated to the Mobile App.

While this is a disappointing outcome, this experience has strongly reaffirmed an important truth: A mobile app is not just a convenience, it’s a critical tool for the future of our organization. Throughout this project, we saw clearly that:

• Members across the country want easier, more immediate access to lodge news, events, and reminders.

• Lodges benefit from tools that improve communication, increase engagement, and help streamline operations.

• Younger members, and even most seasoned ones, expect information to be accessible at their fingertips—via phones, not paper or websites.

• A well-designed app can build a stronger sense of connection, participation, and ownership within the Elks community – helping retention and renewal of membership.

Although this version of the app didn’t work out, the need remains. The Discover Elks team demonstrated the importance of strong training resources, smart and clear ad placement, and a clear support structure in place for any future effort.

The barriers we faced - funding, development time, and the strength of negativity - are real but not insurmountable. In fact, several states, including Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, and New Jersey, stepped up with fiscal support, showing that when we believe in a tool, we can make it happen.

Like many Apps, this attempt was not successful as desired. However, it did set the foundation for future success from the lessons we have learned. Further, as noted earlier, the Elks must continue to innovate and modernize how we reach our membership to remain relevant and impactful.

Finally, we truly appreciate your support and understanding. With the lessons learned and the enthusiasm we've seen, we remain optimistic that a stronger, more effective Elk’s phone app can be developed in the near future. One that serves our Lodges, members, and the values of Elkdom for years to come.
